Darkstarz Records is an independent label officially formed in 2001. We are the underground talent at its rawest form, left in the dark in favor of the commercialized radio hits heard today. Instead of complaining about what we hear, we are looking to change what you hear. We are the difference between those with true talent and those who sell their souls to the corporate devil just to make fast money.
Mainstream hip hop has become a tool to oppress and distract an entire generation of youth, but we are ready to reclaim hip hop to its true essence. Welcome to the world of Darkstarz. Darkstarz Records was founded by Gilberto Romero also know as the artist “Caper”. It was first formed under the name “Darkstarz Productionz” as a music production company with Caper using the alias “Gee Dark” as his producer name. As Caper begun crafting many beat productions and working with multiple artists he wanted it to make it a hip hop movement he called “DSR”.
Gee Dark released a couple of projects with hip hop and reggeaton music. After working with his local team of artists he decided to change the company from a production company into a record label. This inspiration started the Darkstarz Records “DSR” Movement.
